About the Project

The Transnational Education for a Low-Carbon Built Environment project is a partnership between Brunel University London (BUL) and The British University in Egypt (BUE), funded by the British Council (BC) through its Transnational Education (TNE) Exploratory Grant. The initiative responds to the urgent challenge of climate change in the built environment by developing open teaching materials, research-led training, and professional guidance. Through joint activities in the UK and Egypt, the project focuses on structural reuse, whole-life carbon assessment, and circular economy design, building capacity in higher education and industry. By strengthening collaboration between UK and Egyptian institutions, the program aims to equip graduates and practitioners with the skills and knowledge needed to reduce carbon emissions and accelerate sustainable development.
